I, Dr. Hannaneh Hajiaghababa, an IB educator deeply immersed in various pivotal roles—from IBEN leading evaluations and BQC reviewing of submissions to teaching MYP and examining DP TOK— have embarked on a transformative journey shaped by data-driven decision-making. This insight prompted a comprehensive review of our curriculum delivery and assessment practices in the humanities department. Through collaborative discussions with fellow educators and department heads, we identified the need to integrate more scaffolding techniques and explicit instruction on essay structure and argumentation. Subsequent assessments showed marked improvements in students' ability to articulate complex ideas and analyze historical events within their essays.
