The challenge: A need for secure, IB-aligned assessments & smoother workflows
Fairgreen International School (UAE) was moving fully into on-screen MYP eAssessment and wanted a platform that matched IB formats, integrated with ManageBac, and reduced friction for teachers. The requirement with the platform was to
Rising need for integrity and focused practice: Teachers wanted secure, distraction-free sessions that reflect real performance without outside help.
Keep feedback fast and aligned to school policy: Feedback must follow “What went well / Even better if” for every student—valuable but time-consuming to craft consistently.
Simulate MYP eAssessments (with an eye on DP in the future)
Finding quality past papers and mark schemes was time-consuming: IB resources felt “hidden,” slowing planning and practice.
“The lockdown app is essential with AI right now. It’s been really, really valuable to really get an idea of how the students are doing without any support.” — Shannon Johnson, IB MYP Coordinator & DP History Teacher.
The solution: AssessPrep’s lockdown app, IB-style resources & ManageBac integration
Fairgreen started with Grade 10 eAssessments, then trained Grade 9 and extended to Grades 6–8 as teachers saw value. Teachers now rely on secure delivery, ready-made IB-style assessments, AI-assisted feedback, and collaborative authoring—while inclusion accommodations can be pre-set.
Lockdown app to preserve authenticity and focus: Secure mode prevents AI assistance, chats, and web wandering—giving a true picture of student understanding.
Ready-made IB-style assessments & question bank: Centralized, exam-format resources simplify planning, practice, and moderation; teachers can co-design assessments and embed multimedia for inquiry-driven tasks.
AI-assisted feedback and moderation: Teachers use AI feedback as a responsive “moderator,” quickly generating comments in the required format and tuning strictness (lenient/strict/moderate).
Accommodations at scale: Inclusion settings pre-booked (e.g., extra time, spell check) to reduce per-test setup
“The pre-written assessments are really helpful for MYP.” — Shannon Johnson
“We have a policy… ‘what went well, even better if’… I can use the AI feature to produce it in this format… and it’s cut down on time.” — Shannon Johnson
Impact and results
Exam readiness, earlier and wider: Students practice with the exact styles they’ll face in Grade 10 eAssessment; familiarity now starts in lower grades.
Academic integrity without extra policing: Lockdown sessions provide authentic, unsupported performance and teachers trust the work is students’ own.
Teacher time reclaimed: Centralized resources replace the hunt for past papers; AI-generated school policy aligned feedback cuts meticulous commenting time.
Smoother coordination & consistency: The coordinator can rely on shared workflows, co-authoring, and moderation, all aligned to IB formats.
Better learning experiences in class: Multimedia prompts and inquiry tasks run securely; collaboration features streamline common assessments.
“By having the Bank of e-assessments on AssessPrep, this is improving workflow… teachers know where to go to find past papers.” — Shannon Johnson
“It’s… a good moderator… you kind of chat with it in order to improve the response… it’s cut down on time.” — Shannon Johnson
Looking ahead: DP digitization, scanning & organized portfolios
Fairgreen plans to extend use as the IB shifts DP toward digital. There’s interest in scanning handwritten DP work and organizing a durable portfolio students can revisit.
“My understanding is that the DP is going to go digital in the next couple years… it will just naturally grow as the student body grows.” — Shannon Johnson
“Some sort of portfolio of student work… making sure that… [students] can access… being able to filter by subject, date, etc.” — Shannon Johnson
