The challenge
Students used AI to cheat during class. Students imported chatbot text in white font and tried other shortcuts even with screens bright and close supervision.
“We’re not assigning writing outside of class anymore. It was really demoralizing to watch their ability to cheat like that.”She wanted to keep digital writing authentic without going back to paper: Audrey wanted real typing and minute-by-minute revision because that matches how writers work.
The open internet distracted students during writing time: Chats, online texts, and extra tabs pulled engagement away from the task.
The solution
Wanted a solution that integrates well with ManageBac, many peer schools across China recommend AssessPrep because of this functionality. After Audrey asked the tech team for options, they found AssessPrep widely used for this reason and tried it with students.

Browser with security mode clearly created an instant deterrent for students to look for answers online. In a Grade 9 pilot, students realized activity was visible and their behavior changed on the spot.
Lockdown kept students on task and boosted focus. “They cannot wander away to other parts of the internet. They cannot chat with a friend. They can’t even go and look up the online text.” Learn about the lockdown mode and other delivery settings in AssessPrep.

“Their engagement is so much more focused. I knew I was getting academic integrity. I didn’t know that I was getting something that would amplify their engagement.”
Delegated invigilation made extra-time accommodations simple. Audrey assigns a colleague as an invigilator. Students who need extra time can work in another room and stay fully secure.

Impact and results
Academic integrity without detective work: “I can relax, and I know that what they’re producing is their own work.”
Engagement that sticks: Students stay focused. Students stay focused and commit to the task. “That’s Gen Z slang for, you know, just really, really getting really committed.”
Teacher time reclaimed during assessments: “It does part of the work for you, invigilating,” so Audrey can be present and thoughtful.
Students feel empowered to write more and better: Audrey’s Grade 10 daughter loves typing and revising because it lets her get what is in her head onto the page.
